1.What is the criteria to select a pull up resister for 'OE' Signal pin , is it open drain type ?, is there any documentation  for it

2. what is Vik given in data sheet

  • Hi Suhel,

    1. OE is the digital logic pin to turn on and off the switch - The digital control logic pins of the signal switches are buffered inverters and it will not matter the strength of the pull-up or pull-down resistors.  The goal is to satisfy the Vih and Vil requirements of logic pins under various supply voltage conditions

You can select the pull up or pull downs based on other system requirements like the strength of your MCU or processor controlling sending the signal to the control logic pins of the switch.

For high impedance state during power up and power down, there is some detail in the datasheet:

    2. The VIK is the input clamp voltage.  It is the maximum voltage developed across an input diode with test current applied. The presence of a VIK specification indicates that there is a ground-clamp diode on the input and the V-I characteristics of that diode in its forward-biased region are given.

    Regards,

    Saminah

  • The OE pin is an input. If you do not care about the state of the I/Os during power up/down, you can connect OE directly to GND; otherwise, use a pull-up resistor, and see [FAQ] How do I size pull-up or pull-down resistors?

Section 4.6.4 of Understanding and Interpreting Standard-Logic Data Sheets says:

    VIK Input Clamp Voltage

The maximum voltage developed across an input diode with test current applied.

    Helpful Hint:
The presence of a VIK specification indicates that there is a ground-clamp diode on the input and the V-I characteristics of that diode in its forward-biased region are given.
