TS3V713EL: Mux for RS-170 (NTSC) video signals but 8:1 configuration?

Part Number: TS3V713EL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CBTLV3251, , TMUX1308, TMUX1208

I’m hoping you can help answer this customer question, or point me to the person who can.

I'm trying to use SN74CBTLV3251 as a Mux for RS-170 (NTSC) video signals. I don’t think this will work since it cannot pass the negative sync typ of the video signal.

I saw there were some TS3V713EL video muxes but not 8:1 configuration.

Do you know if any analog multiplexers than can pass small negative voltages well, and have the necessary bandwidth (>20 MHz 3dB BW) for this application?

Thank you,

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

Take a look at this similar E2E post:

As performance beyond the recommended operating conditions is not guaranteed, you may be able to DC bias the signal to operate within the recommended voltage range of a single supply mux.

If you are interested in 8:1 muxes and powered-off protection is not needed, I would suggest looking at TMUX1308 or TMUX1208, which are newer devices with additional features such as 1.8-V compatible control inputs, Break-before-make, and Fail-safe logic.
