TS5A23160: Analog input range

Part Number: TS5A23160
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A22362, TS5A22366, TS5A22364

Hi,

The TS5A23160 datasheet states the analog input signal range as 0-V+.  I plan to input a signal in the range -25mV to + 25mV which means a slightly negative going signal. Would that be ok, or would I expect distortion at the output?

I am aware of that there exists similar switches with negative signal capability like TS5A22362, 364, 366 etc. but they have much higher charge injection.

Best Regards

  • Hi Terje,

As long as all voltages are with respect to ground, you can operate within the maximum operation range of -0.5 – 6.5 V. A negative VI will cause some distortion and TI doesn’t validate this part in a negative VI operation. However, the recommended operating conditions are the parameters that we guarantee the part will operate as characterized through out the datasheet.

If you are planning on using a negative VI, I suggest on using TS5A22362, TS5A22364, or the TS5A22366.

    Best Regards,

    Jon

  • Thanks Jon,

I will try to measure the distortion. If it will be too bad I will swap to TS5A22362.

    Best Regards
