SN74LVC2G66: Rugged PC: active design

Part Number: SN74LVC2G66
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1112

"My application (PCIe system) needs some flexibility in switching the SMBUS on and off to specific endpoints. To that end I’m using a SN74LVC2G66DCU Analog switch. This works for the clock and data signals but I’d also like a way to switch the SMBALERT signal as well without having to use a second switch with only one channel utilized. Do you have anything that might fit the bill? We’re size constrained so the smaller the package the better.”

  • Hi Lucas,

Do you know what the current going through the switch is expected to be?

From my understanding of the application (SMBus) I believe it should be below 30mA, but I am not 100% on that.  If this is the case the TMUX1112  is a 4 channel SPST with individual control lines for each switch. The smallest package option we have is 16 Pin UQFN which has a footprint of 1.8x2.6mm (4.68mm^2).  However I should mention that if size is the main concern the YZP package for the SN74LVC2G66DCU, even with two chips, is the smallest solution size at 2 * .91mm * 1.91mm (3.48mm^2) , and if the devices are close enough they can even share a supply decoupling capacitor to save space. The TMUX1112 will match performance of the SN74LVC2G66DCU the best.
