SN74LV4051A: Pin Treatment Confirmation

Hello team!

I would like to confirm the pin treatment for this device.

The customer will only use one Yn for Input and COM for output. In this case, can we just float the rest of the pins or is there any other recommendation for the pin treatment?

If you are not using high-speed signals, you can let the unused I/O pins float. See [FAQ] Frequently Asked Questions about signal switches and multiplexers.

Kazuki,

Clemens is correct in that if it's not high speed applications you can leave it floated. If it is high speed it's recommended to terminate these. Here's a good video on that.

When it comes to "high-speed application" you mentioned, is it something like MHz signal? or is there any identification do your team have?

I'm kinda new for those devices so just want to confirm it.

Typically, yes this will be in the MHz. <100MHz you can maybe get away with short traces and no termination but as you start getting into the double digit MHz to the GHz, you'll want to start considering termination.
