MPC506: MUX Circuit Design confirmation

Part Number: MPC506

Hi Team,

I would like to get your input with the customer design using MPC506 to read a number of 15 signals (analog and digital).

The customer would like to confirm if he can supply it with +5 volts and leaving the negative voltage supply pin floating?
Is it fine to pass different signal types (analog & digital) without affecting the values of these signals?
Can he connect the enable pin and Vref pin to the same power supply?
will the signals affect each other while the Mux turned off?

Here's the image for the proposed design:

Please let me know any questions you have with the customer.

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hey Jonathan,

Thanks for the question. However, it looks like this question has already been asked a few days ago and there's still an ongoing discussion here:

Just to hit on the extra point added in this question, Is it fine to pass different signal types (analog & digital) without affecting the values of these signals?, from the multiplexer perspective, any signal, whether it's a digital or analog signal, will pass through the same as long as they are within the safe operating conditions of the device listed in the datasheet. There's more information in this FAQ : Frequently asked question about signal switches and multiplexers, if you look in the section titled What is the difference between an analog switch and a digital bus switch?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Rami,

Thank you for your response and for letting us know that the customer consider posting this also to e2e.

    Will now resolve this thread.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
