TMUX1308: Input voltage tolerance: Unpowered and input voltage has 3.3V

Part Number: TMUX1308

Hi team,

My customer considered to use SN74LV4051APWR on his product.

However, he found that input pin has <3.3V before power-up due to system power sequence.

I thought to propose TMUX1308PW alternatively since its datasheet states "The TMUX13xx circuitry can handle an input signal present without a supply voltage while minimizing power transfer from the input to output of the switch." in section 8.3.5.2.

But meanwhile, absolute rating of VS/VD shows up to VDD+0.5V.

Is TMUX1308 able to handle 3.3V on S/D pin w/ unpowered condition?

If not, is there any alternative part?

Best regards,

  • Hi Shota,

The TMUX1308 has injection current control which can protect overvoltage on an disabled signal channel from influencing the output from a different input. This isn't a part that offers powered off protection - which is what it sounds like you need.

Something like the SN74CB3Q3251 would be a better fit. With voltage supply of 3.3V it can pass 0V to 5V signals and it offers powered off protection when the device is unpowered. This will be more in line with what the application calls for and it is same bandwidth and similar Ron to the 1308.

  • Hi Parker,

    I understood.

Thanks for your quick reply and kind explanation!
