SN74LVC1G3157: Is the measuring range of Input transition rise or fall rate spec from VIH to VIL?

Part Number: SN74LVC1G3157
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC1G17-Q1

e2e,

I am now evaluating SN74LVC1G3157-Q1, and have 2 questions for this device:

1. Is the measuring range of Input transition rise or fall rate spec from VIH to VIL?

2. Can the requirement of Input transition rise or fall rate be relaxed? If you can relax, how much can you

Looking forward to your answer.

Adam

  • The Δt/Δv limit describes the slope of the edge, and applies to all points of the edge (between VIL and VIH). In practice, it matters only near the switching threshold.

Please note that the A/B1/B2 I/Os support any analog signal with any slope; the Δt/Δv limit applies only to the digital control input S. If the S signal actually is too slow, you have to add a buffer with a Schmitt-trigger input (e.g., SN74LVC1G17-Q1) in front of it.

  • Hi Adam,

For 1. Clemens is correct - it is the slope of the edge it is for all points but in practice it is most important between VIH/VIL.

    2. I would not recommend relaxing this at all as slow inputs at the control pins can tend to cause issues to signal integrity throughout the rest of the device. If your risetime/falltime is too slow adding a buffer with a Schmitt-trigger input is a good solution/work around.

If you have any other questions please let me know!

    Best,
