TMUX7219-Q1: Would you please recommend a 2-channel 2:1 mux for CAN application without a body diode?

Part Number: TMUX7219-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A23159, TS5A23160, TMUX1136

e2e,

My application is to connect and disconnect a CAN transmission line and I'm looking for a MUX without body diode.

Requirements:

SPDT -electronic switch IC

    • High impedance (Mohm) @ No connection
    • Low ON state resistance <1 Ohm
    • Two channel

Thank you,

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

Could you give us more details on the application and use case.

    - Seems like you are working on a CAN bus in automotive application. Please confirm.

    - What is the signal voltage - Normal scenario, Common mode and any fault protection capability?

    - What are the voltage rails available for the Mux/Switch itself?

    - Do you have a schematic or block diagram of the system to help us understand where the MUX is needed on the bus.

Any additional information will be helpful.

    Thank you,

    Regards,
    Sandesh

  • Hi Sandesh,

Adam posted the question for my customer.

    -Application is industrial

-CAN device being used is the TCAN1051GVDRQ1

-MUX will be used to allow connection from outside the application

    Hope this provides enough info.

  • Hi Jules,

Could you confirm my understanding of the use case is correct. See picture in the attachment below. I have used simplified pin names to indicate switch Input and Output.

If the below picture is correct, we just need a low voltage 2ch, 2:1 switch to support this request. We can choose one of our low RDson and Low leakage switch. Few options: TS5A23159, TS5A23160, TMUX1136

Please confirm the voltage level used for CAN VI/O (which is also the TXD, RXD levels) and that is the minimum supply VCC required for the switch. They will need one more GPIO signal to control the SPDT switches between OUTxA and OUTxB.

    Thank you,

    Regards,
    Sandesh
