TS5A3359: TIDA-01012 With Single Ended Supply

Part Number: TS5A3359
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01012,

Hi Team,

We are interested in designing with TS5A3359 and came across an interesting application in TIDA-01012. How this was done with just a single-ended, single supply?  In other words, if I put 50VAC on VOLT_IN, doesn’t that swing through COM, such that this negative swing would be seen by U4?  Would it be possible to put a divider on COM, and then measure differential across both input and com dividers?

Thanks,

Garret

  • Hi Garret,

That is interesting. So I believe they are able to achieve this by voltage scaling. Essentially the negative voltage is going to still be within the min to max range; or if it does violate voltage, the resistors will keep the current low into the switch to prevent from breaking. A normal AC wave would break the chip, however it seems like a lot of precautions were taken to limit the voltage actually reaching the Mux.

It becomes a lot more challenging however with this not being single ended. Are you trying to create a similar application to this? I may be able to provide information on the correct mux based on your application. Please let me know if I can help!
