TS12A12511: Single-Channel SPDT Analog Switch

Part Number: TS12A12511

Hi Guys,

We need your help to confirm some information on the data sheet of this part number TS12A12511. Our customer notice some discrepancy.

The data sheet mentioned that "This switch conducts equally well in both directions when it is on. The device also offers a low ON-state resistance of 5 Ω (typical), which is matched to within 1 Ω "between channels". Kindly check again because this device is single-channel but includes specification "between channels". Kindly enlighten us please. Thank you in advance.

Examples: ΔRON ON-state resistance match between channels  and  XTALK Channel-to-channel crosstalk.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

For this device when they mean "between channels" they mean between the different switches within the 2:1 switch. The wording is confusing so I can understand why the discrepancy came up.

Delta Ron refers to differences in resistances between switches in the same IC. So As long as there are at least 2 switching structures delta Ron can be captured. A 2:1 switch has two separate switching structures - an example is shown below.

Each switch, circled in red, may have a slightly different resistance. This is where the Delta Ron spec is coming from.

For Cross talk - this is interference on an off channel that is caused by an on channel. This wording is a bit confusing but cross talk can happen between the NO and NC pin - and that is what is being focused on. It does seem that the cross talk test circuit section is not correct and shows a 1:1 version. But as long as there can be 1 input that is on and 1 input that is off there can be cross talk from the on path to the off pathway.

I hope this helps clear this up - but if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to reach out!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson

  • Thanks for the clear explanation.
