Can TS3V713EL 1:2 VGA switch with integrated level shifting on Hsync and Vsync be used in 2 source/1 end point application?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3V713EL, TS3V712E

Hi team,

The TS3V713EL datasheet claimed the function of switching between a single VGA source and one of two end points. Is it able to switch 2 sources for 1 end point?

Thanks.

BR,

Mike

  • Mike,

Yes, the TS3V713EL is able to switch 2 sources for 1 end point on some of the signal paths but the TS3V713EL has integrated level sifters on two of the signal paths that are unidirectional.  If you would like to have a bi-directional type of switch on all the channels you can use the TS3V712E that does not include the level shifting feature.

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • Hi Adam,

Looking at the logic diagram, the Hsync/Vsync signal is buffered to two end points. I'm wondering if these two bits can be bidirectional.

could you please give me a update ASAP?

    Thanks.

    BR,

    Mike

  • Customer used Pericom’s p2p device to do the Demux function. But they found the Hsync/Vsync can’t be bidirectional. Now they want to know if TS3V713EL can do it. Could you please double confirm that the Hsync/Vsync can also be bidirectional? the block diagram in datasheet is not signal switch structure.
Besides, in the TS3V712E datasheet, the Hsync/Vsync are signal switches. If 713EL can't be bidirectional, they would use 712E instead.

    Thanks
    Mike
  • Mike,

The TS3V713EL integrated level shifters are unidirectional. This means the Hsync/Vsync signal paths are not bidirectional in the TS3V713EL.

If you would like a similar device that is bidirectional on all signal paths I would look at using the TS3V712E device.

    Thank you,
    Adam
