TS5A22362 and TS5A22364 (audio switches) negative signaling clarification and shunt resistor operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A22364, TS5A22362

What does "The OFF state signal path (either NC or NO) during the operation of TS5A22364 cannot handle negative DC voltage" mean?  The same comment is in the TS5A22362 data sheet.  Can the part be damaged?

  • David,

The TS5A22364 is the same device as the TS5A22362 with the addition of a shunt resistor that connects to the signal path of the un-selected (OFF) channel when not in use to provide the click and pop reduction feature.

The shunt resistor included in the TS5A22364 will connect the un-selected (OFF state signal path) to ground.  The highlighted statement in section 8.3.2 Negative Signal Swing Capability below is a reminder not to over drive the shunt resistor with current beyond what is stated in the absolute maximum rating table. It is very easy to create larger currents through the shunt resistor if negative DC voltages are applied to the un-selected (OFF state signal path)

The statement highlight above should not be included in the TS5A22362 datasheet since this device does not include a shunt resistor to provide the click and pop suppression feature.  Please let us know if it is in the datasheet by mistake.

    Thank you,

    Adam
