CD74HC4067: need a switch similar to CD74HCT405x that can operate 0/5V

Part Number: CD74HC4067
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HCT4067, , CD4067B, CD74HCT4051, MUX506, MPC506, MUX508

The customer is working on a design  that has a lot of current and feedback loops they feed into an ADC.

They use a lot of MUXes in front of the ADC channels and primarily used CD74HCT405x as they need +/-5V signal levels. they need 3 X 16:1 switch.

whats the best 16:1 switch available?

  • Since customer’s requirement is +/-5V analog input, which implies recommended VCC to GND/VEE should be close to or higher than 10V without the help of internal charge pump.

CD74HC4067’s max supply range is 6V, while CD74HCT4067’s is 5.5V. Neither would be an option to accommodate +/-5V analog input.

CD4067B might be an option if the customer is okay with the VIH and VIL requirements of this device. And it is "ON" resistance is about 40 Ohms which is close to the resistance that CD74HCT4051 offers.

MUX506 and MUX508 are also 16:1 options with wider supply range and better power consumption rating. MPC506 is a similar 16:1 option, but its “ON” resistance is about 1kOhms.
