CCSv5.1 License options - Help needed

I've downloaded the CCSv5.1 for windows installer. It will be of great help if some one can help me with which license option to choose on installation.

I'm planning to order the F28069 Piccolo experimenter kit TMDXDOCK28069, and Piccolo based Solar Explorer Development kit TMDSSOLARPEXPKIT. Later on I might go for a XDS100V2 emulator as well. I have a few doubts regarding what is the best CCS version and license option for me.

1.)  If I choose the time limited evaluation option, can I convert it later on to a XDS100 based license? Or should I choose the code size limited option ?

2.) I know that a CCSv4 is bundled along with the F28069 Piccolo experimenter kit TMDXDOCK28069, what are the limitations on this bundled version?

3.) Does the Solar Explorer Development kit TMDSSOLARPEXPKIT, include a CCS version as well?

Thankks in advance,

Binish

  • Hi Binish,

You should be able to use CCS free in this setup.  The XDS100 is free to use with CCS and you picollo evaluation kit as well.

Please see this wiki, but you will not need even a trial or purchased license if this is the setup you desire.  You need the "Free limited License", also called a bundle license in the wiki below

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the answer. That clears a lot of my doubts.Just one thing though, my order status for the piccolo evaluation kit shows waiting to be shipped, so I have a few days at hand, so my question is if I start with the evaluation license now will it be easy to convert it back to the "Free limited License" once I get the kit in my hand. I intend to use the software on the same machine, so I would like to know whether any issues with MAC addresses or anything like that can happen.

I know I can use one of the free license options, but since I am using CCS for the first time, I'm curious to see the full features of it, but would like to avoid unnecessary troubles.

Thank you once again for your time, and it will be most helpful if you can clarify the above doubt as well.

  • Hi Binish,

yes, you should be able to change the license option.  This can be done by going to Help->Code Composer Studio licensing information.  Then from the manage tab you can select "Launch License Setup" and go from there.

    All the best with development.

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks a lot for your replies. I'll go ahead with the CCS installation, and get started with development in the coming days.

Thanks a lot for your support and the great E2E community that TI has set up.

  • Hi Binish,

no problem at all.  That's what we're here for and all the best with development.
