TIVA C - TM4C129XNCZAD - Code Composer Studio - Project Configuration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C129XNCZAD, SYSBIOS

Hi,

I am having a hard time getting started with CCS v5. I am using a TIVA C - TM4C129XNCZAD Launchpad board. To use as a template, I am first trying to walk through the "Hello" Example provided within CCS. This example gives 4 steps, as shown below. I cannot get step 2 (Build the imported project) to work. When I try to build it I receive the following error(s):

line 51: Error: xdc.tools.configuro: Error: no target named: please use -t, -b, or --cb

As the step 2 instructions suggest, I attempt to change build options. The following 2 screen shots are what I have. Notice that it won't even let me click "OK" until I have specified a "RTSC Target".

What do I need to do to get this example project (or any project) working?

Thank you!

PS. I am running on windows 8.1 if that matters.

  • Hi,

The third screenshot gives away the issue: CCSv5 is by default pointing to an incompatible release of the XDC Tools (3.30.3.47_core in the XDCtools version drop-down menu).

This can be caused if you have either CCSv6 installed in a separate directory or installed this specific XDC tools and added it to your v5 install (either voluntarily or involuntarily - there are a few places where this may happen).

To "fix" this you can simply select the original XDC tools release that was installed with CCS (in my setup it is 3.25.09.94) in the drop-down menu.

Just a tip regarding starting with Tiva devices: installing Tivaware is extremely helpful for starters. Despite it does not have the capabilities of a Real-Time Operating System, it interacts with hardware in a good level.

Tivaware can be added to the TI Resource Explorer (the same tool you used to browse to the SYSBIOS example) by clicking on the button "Add" close to the list of available packages and browsing to where you installed Tivaware.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Thank you Rafael! This was the problem.

Also, just to let others know, I was getting this problem because I had previously installed CCS v6. Uninstalling wasn't enough. So what I did was uninstalled CCS v5 as well, then I deleted the TI folder in my project files directory on my C drive, then I reinstalled CCS v5 and it worked.

However, now I am having a problem with step 4. It seems as though a file is missing. I took your advice and added the tivaware package that was installed on my computer from the flash drive that came with the launchpad board. I am now trying to run "blinky". The following error occurs when I do this. Any idea how to fix it?

I recommend you to learn Tiva Connected Launchpad using the latest version of CCS and not CCS v5. Download the workbook pdf from the link below. There are labs there that will teach the basics. This workbook will help you better understand the basics compared to the "walk through the "Hello" Example provided within CCS".
