Flashing MSP432 with MSP-FET-432ADPTR in CCS

Hi

I have just purchased the MSP-FET adapter to debug an MSP432P401R, however it does not seem to work. I have selected "TI MSP430 USB1" for 'Connection' in the project settings, but I always get the following error message in CCS v6.1.3.00033:

"Error connecting to the target: Unknown device"

I am using the 10-pin connector with the switch S1 is in the position "Vcc Sense" as I provide the power for the MCU with an external supply. I have also looked at the instructions at the forum post (https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/p/528075/1921302?pi318617=2), however my installed "MSP430 Emulators and Device Support Files" software is already at version 6.3.3.1 and I still receive the same error.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

I was unable to reproduce this error. I am using a similar setup as yours.

I tested this with a few versions: CCSv6.1.3 with device support 6.3.4.2 and CCSv6.2.0 with MSP430 device support 6.3.4.4. Understandably I was unable to make it work with CCSv6.1.2 with device support 6.3.1.0.

I am connecting my setup as shown in the picture below. Perhaps you can identify something different from your configuration.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
