TMDSEMU200-U: Trying to understand if XDS200 uses the EMU0 and EMU1 pins on the TMDSEMU200-U

Effectively on the TMDSEMU200-U we have added a extender card via AMC interface and this takes the 14 lines to a TI 14 pin interface. But the lines EMU0 and EMU1 are not taken.

My question is does the XDS200 use these lines?

These pins can be driven to specific value from emulator based on device which is connected but may not be required on most of C2000 device. I am moving this thread to CCS team and someone from their will be able to provide more detail on this.

This information is very important because, effectively we have taken a XDS200 and put it on a card and we are connecting it via this extender TI 14 pin for flash reprogramming. Hardware have asked us if we can still use it for debugging if we don't have those pins (EMU0 and EMU1). What might be useful to know from the CCS team what pins we actually need (that feed into JTAG) for the minimum of flash reprogramming and debugging. Taking into consideration CCS to XDS200 to TMDSEMU200-U (or TI EVMK2E).

Hi,

Information about the EMU pins and general design guidelines can be obtained at:

As Vivek mentioned, they have limited use for systems with a single device. However, if you have multiple devices in your board (case of three-phase systems, for example), the EMU pins are critical for cross-triggering (setting a breakpoint that halts all cores) - most of the F28x devices support this, but always check the datasheet for the presence of these pins.
