CCS/AWR1642BOOST: C674X Error Connecting to the Target

I created a new configuration file for the Vital Signs demo, and upon launching the configuration, both the C674X and the Cortex R4 appear as expected. I am unable to connect to the DSP due to the following error: C674X_0: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1180 @ 0x0) Device is held in reset. Take the device out of reset, and retry the operation. (Emulation package 8.0.27.9) I am able to connect to the Cortex R4, however. I saw other forum posts that said to go to the Menu -> Scripts to try and reset the DSP, but there are no drop-downs beneath the Scripts heading. I double checked with the SDK release notes to see whether or not I need to update anything, and I believe I am all up-to-date. Just for details, here are all of my versions:

Hardware - AWR1642 ES1.0

SDK - SDK 1.1.0.2

TI Emulator Package - 8.0.27.9 (just needs to be greater than 6.0.0576)

There are no pending updates in CCS. I am running this on Windows, so I have no need for the Linux compiler. Any suggestions on a fix? My only thoughts are that I need an older version of TI Emulator Package or somehow I don't have version 1.5.3 or later of mmwave device support packages.

Hi,

Apparently the process of connecting to the DSP requires flashing the device with a specific binary, which is mentioned in the following post:

I was not able to connect to the DSP using any of the scripts pre-configured in the DAP core of this device.

I am asking for a device expert to clarify this.

I flashed the xx16xx_ccsdebug.bin to my AWR1642 and tried to connect to the DSP, but it failed again with the same error. Thanks for trying to help find a solution.

Samuel,

Did you make sure to remove the jumper off SOP2 after flashing the CCS debug image to your device? When running a device that is stored in flash, only SOP0 should be tied across with a jumper.

Hello Sam,

One other thing you could check is that the EVM is set in SoP mode = 101. The EVM user's guide can help you on how to set this up.
