CCS/CCSTUDIO: Error Installing CCS v7.4 and v6.2 on macOS

Part Number: CCSTUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C123GH6PM, EK-TM4C123GXL

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I'm trying to install CCS for my Embedded Microcomputer Systems class and the instructor says we have to use CCS v7.4 or CCS v6.2 because higher version don't support the Tiva C TM4C123GH6PM LaunchPad that we are using. However when trying to install either of those versions, I get some kind of error several times until it ultimately fails.

I get errors like "SSL channel "sock102ae1090": error: tlsv1 alert protocol version" until it finally says

"An error occured : Installer failed to install jre correctly.".

I found a forum post that was marked solved where the advice was to try a newer version of CCS, however due to my course using the Tiva C TM4C-series LaunchPad, I am constrained on what versions I can use.

I am running macOS Mojave.

  • Hi,

CCSv7.x and 6.2 releases were not tested on Mojave, thus there is a chance they will not work at all.

Interestingly, even the newest CCS supports the TM4C123GH6PM Launchpad - is there any specific component that is missing from your setup?

    Rafael

  • Hmm. Maybe my professor might have gotten the wrong info then.

For the class we're using the Tiva T4MC LaunchPad that I mentioned above to control a robot that is equipped with a few sensors to that the robot can autonomously move through a maze from start to finish.

Are there only specific parts that are compatible with CCS 9.1 on macOS?

I attached our parts list for the class provided by our instructor.

I am not entirely sure if I understand your question correctly, but from the list of parts you show in the Excel file, the only one that CCS is able to debug is the EK-TM4C123GXL Launchpad.

  • Sorry for the confusion, let me be more clear...

Will CCS v9.1 on macOS Mojave be able to program/interface with various sensors and add-ons to the TM4C123GXL LaunchPad?

I'm not sure if that would require certain drivers that might not be available for macOS?

  • Hi,

I am not really sure, as I am not familiar with the sensors shown in the spreadsheet. You would need to contact the manufacturers of each sensor - for the ones that are manufactured by us, you can always post the question on the appropriate sensor/ADC/interface/etc. forum room.
