Hello, I have three launchpads for the CC2640R2 and one AoA Booster pack.

I have flashed the rtls_master to the AoA installed launchpad, rtls_passive and rtls_slave to the other two boards.

I made the hardware modification required for the AoA installed board.

For this case, how can I test that the angle of arrival is being detected?

I tried to open a terminal but the device is not sending anything for three nodes. Is there some configuration or setup to be done besides the ones from the documents?

Hi,

I would recommend you to follow the labs provided here.

If you are using the latest SDK (3.40), you will be required to use the user interface named rtls_ui and stored in your SDK in tools\ble5stack\rtls_agent

I tried the flashing and running the cli,but only MASTER node is detected. Is there something wrong about the way the devices were flashed?

Hi,

It is expected and normal if the slave node is not detected. However the master and the slave should be detected. If this is not the case, I would recommend to re-flash the faulty device. Once again, follow the labs provided here it will save you some time :) For example, you will see that the AOA boosterback has to be mounted on the passive node (and not on the master node).

Hello Clement,

I have tried to reflash the board but only the MASTER node i recognized.Could it be a faulty behavior?

I tried flashing different boards and still the same problem. Any idea?

Hi,

Verify if all the jumpers are installed on the passive device.

You can also try to re-flash the device using a different tool (such as Uniflash or Flash Programmer). In this case, I would recommend to start by mass-erasing the device.

Our software and tools are not tested with VCP. Even if I don't think this is the issue, I think it worth to do another try without VCP.

Hi Bruno,

i had a similiar issue while trying to flash my devices. My main problem was the compatability issue. It did flash my devices without error, but it would't work.

Try to update to CCS 9.3.

I was able to see the demo once my python environment was setup. Unfortunately, the slave device seems to be identified, but it does not allow to have AoA for some reason. ToF is working though.

Is there some step I might be missing?

Hi Clement,

Now I can connect the three, Master, Passive and Slave and check the ToF Information without problem. For some reason, the enable AoA button is not available. I uncomment the option frm the build settings already but the button does not seem to be available. Did this happen to you as well?

Good to see you are progressing! Was the issue due to VCP? Can you precise what you have done to solve your problem? Thanks :)

Regarding the "enable AOA" button. The build options (especially the predefined symbols) of the software need to be slightly modified to allow them to handle AOA (note: this is for CC2640R2 devices only). For the master and slave devices, this must be done, in build_config.opt (in the stack projects) by de-commenting the symbol RTLS_LOCATIONING_AOA. For the passive device, the symbol must be pre-defined (right click on the passive project > Build > Predefined Symbols - The symbol xRTLS_LOCATIONING_AOA is declared, just remove the "x").

Hello Clement,

I switched to SDK 3.40 which was released recently and run thr UI. No problem related to VCP Usage. I tried uncommenting the AoA feature for the slave and the master and then enable the AoA option for the passive device. However, the button is still not enabled. Is there any other configuration I might be missing?

Hi Bruno,

Can you precise what you meant saying "uncommenting the AoA feature for the slave and the master"? In theory, you only have to pre-define a different set of symbols (as I described in my previous message) but you don't need to directly modify the code.

In addition, you can try to mass erase the devices (using Flash Programmer 2 for example) and re-flash them.

So I did the settings as the screenshots above. I tried reflashing but sometimes the slave does not connect. The Enable ToF option was not available and the Passive has the RX behavior for AoA, however the master remains as N/A.

Ok, thank you for the precision. I assume you did the same modification for the slave and the master, can you confirm?

Can you try to mass erase the devices (using Flash Programmer 2 for example) and re-flash them?

When I reflash the device. Sometimes the slave device is detected and connected, but the Enable AoA option is still not available, and not even the Enable ToF option. Any suggestion?

Hi Bruno,

Keep in mind that on CC2640R2, you cannot use at the same time AOA and TOF. When you activate AOA, you deactivate TOF. There is no way to activate both TOF and AOA at the same time on CC2640R2 (you will require CC26X2R to do so).

Hi Bruno,

I tested the software and I could not reproduce your issue.

- If you have not done it yet, can you try to mass-erase your devices? (sorry I did not get if you have done so or not) This must be done using FLASH-PROGRAMMER-2

- Can you verify if your SDK has not been altered? For example you can try to reinstall it.

> If you are referring to the CC2640R2 launchpad, then you have to connect the launchpad to the computer and set up all the jumpers on the launchpad. You will probably have to update the XDS firmware (please do so).

I have all the jumpers set as per default configuration. I have updated the XDS firmware the first time I flashed the boards, however when I try to erase on Smart RF Programmer, the devices are not recognized. Would there be any step I am missing for this?
