F28069U: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1041 @ 0x0)

Hello Community,
I get the following error when trying to connect to the target:

C28xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1041 @ 0x0) The emulator reported an error. Confirm emulator configuration and connections, reset the emulator, and retry the operation. (Release 5.0.429.0)

target: F28069U
CCS version: 4.2.4.00033

I followed the procedure to unlock the target in case it was locked with CSM (using wait-in-reset mode).
I tried searching for such errors in the forum but got no satisfying answer. Also, our project is not in a position right now to move to CCSv5.
could any one help me in unlocking the target?
also, is there a list of errors thrown by the debugger along with their meaning?

Hi,

Can you attach a screenshot of the "Test Connection" results that can be found in target configuration window?

This is exactly why you're facing the issue. Select the debugger ie XDS100 v2 and then select the controller. Then save the configuration and click on Test Connection button. I guess, now it'll start working.

Hi,

I am not sure which configuration you are talking about. I indeed have selected XDS100v2 (check the attachment).

Once you save the configuration and set it as a default configuration; you should be able to see the "Test Connection" button.

Hi,
I missed some background information about this:
this problem occurs only in board (custom board); same target configuration, same CCSv4 workspace, same firmware is able to connect to other boards, without any problem.
hence i suspect this is a board setting issue.

Ohhh, if that is the case then you should've mentioned before. Anyways, so your emulator works with other boards?

Have you checked the voltage levels on the current board?

Hi,
yeah, I should have mentioned. I am sorry for that.
I had faced similar locking of the controller earlier and it was due to CSM.
Hence, I only tried unlocking from CSM perspective.
I'll check the JTAG connections and update.
