Your Code Composer does not support the connected target

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, TMS320F2812

Hello,

I am using Code Composer Studio v3.1 in an attempt to flash program to a TMS320F240 dsp. I am using Spectrum Digital's XDS510 USB JTAG Emulator tool and I installed all the latest drivers from their website.

My problem is that I am not able to run CCS in ANY of the emulator environments factory boards. The error I get says

"Your Code Composer does not support the connected target. Device driver name: "C:\CCStudio_v3.1\drivers\sdgo24xusb.dvr" "

I have no problem whatsoever running the Simulator tool.

I am aware the TMS320F240 is not recommended for new designs, but his is the device our customer is working with.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Any help our advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Leonor,

I suspect that you are using a CCS image that was bundled with a DSK or eZdsp kit.  Those images will only work with the onboard emulation on the particular kit that it was bundled with or a simulator.  It will not work with a standalone emulator like an XDS510 USB.

  • Dear John,

Yes you are right, this image is bundled with the eZdsp kit. What I didn't know was that it could not work with other emulators.

I tried running CCS v3.3, but I am not able to flash program the device. It seems it cannot detect the appropriate chip. I am using a TMS320F240 in (already) microcontroller mode, but the software gives an error and asks to change the TMS320F2407 from microprocessor to microcontroller.

I am aware the DSP is old, but any suggestions on software/drivers/plugins that will surely support it? I have access to 2 different emulators: the Blackhawk-USB-2000 and the before mentioned XDS510-USB.

    Thank you very much,

    -Leonor

  • Since the limited version of 3.1 is working and you have a 3.3 license I will start a side conversation and send you a link to a full version of 3.1.

  • Dear John

I use also the TMS320F240 and have the same issue, because I have the ccs 2.21 bundled to ezdsp. Can you send me please a link to the full version of 2.21?

In the past, we worked with PRG2xx which ist not further supported and does not work under Windows XP. I need a solution to flash only the boot code and found SDFlash which needs a driver.

    Thanks and kind regards

  • Dear sir, I have the same problem. if you have solution please mail me.

I have used CCS Version 3.1. The processor I am using is "TMSF2808"

    The error message is :

Your Code Composer does not support the connected target. Device driver name: "C:\CCStudio_v3.1\drivers\sdgo28xusb.dvr"

Please tell me the solution if u have

  • Hello,

I am using the CCS3.1 version and was not able to find the 'on chip programmer' in tools. When I tried downloading the flash programmer for TMS320F2812 and launched CCS3.1 it displayed me

Your Code Computer does not support the connected target.

    Device driver name; "c:ccstudio_v3.1\drivers\sdgo28xUSB.dvr.

After I removed the flash programmer files and reinstalled the CCS3.1, rebooting the system that error was rectified but still not able to sort out the issue for the on chip flash programmer, which does not get displayed in the tools drop down.

    Thanks

    Sherly

  • Sherly,

Are you able to use a newer version of CCS?  Later versions ship with the flash programmer integrated with the program loader (i.e. it is all automatic).  CCSv3.1 is 9 years old.

You can download a newer version of CCS here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS
