CCS4.1 failure under Vista

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3S8962

Hi Champs,

My customer just got his new LM3S8962 board bundled with CCS (EKS-LM3S8962). Building projects works fine, however starting the debugger will end up in a CCS crash as shown on the following screenshot: He is using Vista.

It was pretty hard to convince the customer to give a try to Stellaris instead of NXP.... so any quick good suggestion how to proceed would be appreciated.

(He already tried to reinstall CCS in C:\Program Files and also to D:\CCS but this doesn't change anything on the situation).

Thanks and regards

Tomas

  • Hi Tomas,

Could you provide as much information requested here as possible?

    Thanks

  • I have been experiencing problems with LM3S8962 and CCS as well.   I had install failures (see another post) due to some kind of side by side install.   After trying various things (more installs and uninstalls than I care to mention)  I have since switched to a clean machine (no previous CCS's) and the install goes fine and I'm able to build hello world.

I now have the problem of "Error connecting to target" when trying to Debug the Active project.   I've rebooted the PC and the board a couple of times, installed the CCS 4.1.3 update and still no joy.

Device Manager on the Win XP SP3 HP Workstation xw4100 shows Virtual COM port 6 and under USB Evaluation Board A and B.

I've followed the readme and quickstart guide.    When I first connected the board to this PC, I needed to install the USB support, which was done per the readme instructions using the drivers on the DVD that came with the EKS-LM3S8962 evaluation kit.

I've searched around on this TI e2e site and have seen some posts, but am still stuck.

Is there a command line tool to check the USB connection to the board?    Is there a way to download IAR or Codesourcery without a lot of hackery to debug hello world?

    I'm open to suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Thom
