CCS/MSP432P4111: No connecting to target

Windows 10 (64 bit)

Unable at any time to connect to the target; cannot load/flash a program.  Can't connect for debug session of the Out-of-the-Box firmware.  That OOB software responds as expected to button presses, so the board is functional.

Run->Connect Target is always unavailable.

The connection to the XDS110 reports okay.

When Selecting the Debug icon 

The Progress window opens to report the Launching Debug Session.  Both that bar and the progress bar at the bottom of the workspace report 100% completion, but activity stops at the point shown in the following image.  There is also no menu item or icon which will then terminate the debug session (because it never really starts).  Closing the workspace opens a dialog to report the process of terminating the debug session, but it just stop there (appearing to be doing something but to no effect); and the only available option is to kill from Task Manager.

I have even tested the jumpers on the board between the XDS and MSP sections -- all present, good conductivity.

UniFlash detects the board and is able to read the memory.  (Have not yet attempted a flash.)

    Hi Dale,
    Your low level connectivity looks solid. It looks to be an issue with the debug launch.

    Can you try the following:
    -Try steps 3, 4, and 5 in the following link: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv7
    -If that does not help, try cleaning your workspace: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv7
    -Try starting a project-less manual debug session: dev.ti.com/.../

    If none of the above help, please reproduce the issue while generating a debug server log and attach it to this thread:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv7

    Thanks Ki,

    - 3,4,5 did not work.

    - Created a new workspace and cleaned the cache -- did not work.

    - project-less debug session - did not work

    However, afterwards there was more than the usual .lock file.  (I'm guessing this will not be useful, but here it is)

    New workspace, cleaned the cache, the log is attached.

    As a test, I installed from the same ZIP on a different machine [laptop], and there the connection and all other problems observed (different discussion thread) are good.

    Besides hardware, observable difference between the machines is small: The desktop with the problem was Windows 10 Home, the okay laptop is Windows 10 Pro (upgrade from Win 7). Checked the running services between the two, started a couple on the problem machine without effect. Took a shot-in-the-dark and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. That too was ineffectual.

    Pretty much stuck here on making progress to fix this on the desktop. . . other than the debug log, which shows a failure to establish a loopback connection. But, I'm not sure how to follow up on that.

    For the time being, CCS is good for compiling and linking. Uniflash works great for flashing the image. I will modify parts out of the drivers/display example to create a class to print to the COM device through the UART for a debug terminal. (Nice libraries, by the way, I keep finding things I can use therein.)

    The laptop can't be a primary development machine, but it looks like it will suffice to run EnergyTrace, and for the debugger, if that is necessary. And, probably will have to develop the USB/HID interface there also.

    So, it looks like all the capabilities are available, just not on the desktop. I can't call this "resolved," but not stuck anymore.

    Hi Dale,
    Thank you for the log your sent in your prior post. Could you confirm that your network configuration is fine? Can you try temporarily disabling your firewall?

    As for the laptop (which appears to run fine), does it have the same network configuration and security software (firewall) as the desktop with the issue?

    The problem turned out to be the Killer Control Center application (and possibly the Killer Network Service). This "Killer" stuff is an application-to-IP connection prioritization and throttling package. It is not supposed to act as a blocking firewall, and has shown not problem with other application. But apparently it does not cooperate well with CCS. I suppose this must have something to do with [Killer] not correctly working with local server processes.

    After ending the Control Center process and stopping the Network Service flashing and debugging from CCS works as expected.
