CCS/LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: Failed Cloud Agent Installation, Can't find directory "...\Texas" when it should find "...\Texas Instruments"

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

When I try to install the TI Cloud Agent, I see an error that says it can't find a directory called "C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Texas".  I found that directory called "...\Texas Instruments", so maybe there's a typo or the inability to search for a directory with a space in it.  I'm using Windows 10.

This problem looks like the same problem as issue #3 of post "CCS: Cloud Agent not working" from , see reply from Oct 15, 2018 5:33 PM.

  • Hi Michael,
This is an issue that pops up from time to time. The last thread I recall is:
    e2e.ti.com/.../753815

While that issue is unresolved, I would also like for you to try some of the suggestions by AndyW in this post:
    e2e.ti.com/.../2786294

Let me know if they help (or not).

    Thanks

  • Hello Ki,

I tried both reinstalling and trying to access the "Texas Instruments" directory using the 8.3 name TexasI~1 and neither worked.

Basically what I want is to be able to run example code on the LauchPad I just bought. I'm not even able to use it. How do I run example code on this evaluation board? I have a CC26x2R1 LaunchPad / SimpleLink.

I would like to explore the example programs so I can figure out how to program this more quickly than just starting with a blank file and typing "void main()", etc.

I can't seem to use example code directly from my Code Composer Studio installation on my laptop nor can I use it through the Cloud Agent. Ideally I'd get this working on my local CCS installation so I can start coding my own application.

    Thanks,
    Mike

What is the issue with CCS on your laptop?

  • Hi Michael,
Just following up to see if you still have the issue on your laptop. if so, please provide more details on the issue.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

In another thread, I was given instructions for using CCS to execute example code on the LaunchPad. Based on those instructions, I realized I had an old version of CCS installed. I installed the latest, but I haven't had time to test whether I can get it to work with the board. I'm pursuing that right now, so I also haven't tried the Cloud option for a while.

    Thanks for checking in!
    Mike
  • Ok, please let us know how it goes! Good luck!

  • Hi Ki,

I was able to alter, build, and flash example code to the LaunchPad locally with JohnS's help. I have a good working local setup, so for now, I'm not going to pursue the Cloud option.

Thanks for checking in. I appreciate that.

  • Sounds good. Glad to hear you are up and running. Thanks for the update.

  • I am having the same issue with installing TIcloudagent_2_tixds110 on windows 10.

When it gets to 'installing target support', the error message pops up as per the title, cant find \Texas (which doesnt exist, only Texas instruments).

I tried renaming the folder to just 'Texas', but then i get a different error during the installation:
'This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Settings page.'

Interestingly, I have restarted my PC, then tried to reinstall TIcloudagent and I get the same error, but after closing the window it says installation complete, though it does not work as it supposed to.

I think this is a new issue, as I installed it previously on a laptop around october time and had no problems?

Is there any new info on how to solve this? Thanks

  • Shaun,

I stopped looking for a solution to this problem because I got a local installation of Code Composer Studio to work.  It's interesting that it seems like a more recent version.  I wonder whether there's a way to install an earlier version.

I'll reply if I learn something.  Good luck,

    Mike

  • Mike,

I just retried the installation and it worked but I have no idea why or what changed between now and then, considering I tried many things to get the installation to work in the first place.

I needed the cloud agent as I wanted to use the GUI composer on the TI cloud.

Sadly I can't say how to fix this issue but maybe try the installation again like I did and maybe you'll get lucky.
