CCS: Last version of gcruntime for Windows and Linux

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello! What are last versions of gcruntime for Windows and Linux.  Here http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:GUI_Composer  only 6.2 for Windows  and  6.1 for Linux  are available. But half year ago I downloaded v7 for windows ( though it does not work properly). What situation is now? Are there some improvements in  GUI Composer or project is closed?

  • Michael,

GUI Composer underwent a major change a few years back.  We basically have GUI Composer v1 and GUI Composer v2.

With GUI Composer v1 the Designer tool was available as part of CCS, up until CCSv6.2.  After CCSv6.2 you could still run GUI Composer v1 generated apps in CCS (if you had the runtime installed) but the Designer was not available.

With GUI Composer v2 the Designer tool is separate from CCS and you can choose to host your generated GUI in the cloud, as a standalone app or integrated with CCS.  If you choose to export a standalone application it will give you the option then to download the runtime.

If exporting to use inside CCSv7.x or later no runtime is required.

GUI Composer v1 is not in active development, but GUI Composer v2 very much is active.  If you are looking to create new GUIs I would highly suggest using GUI Composer v2.  You can access GUI Composer v2 at http://dev.ti.com

    Regards,

    John

  • John, Thank you for reply. Yes I know about common principles and already have made several projects in  GUI Composer 2. I only ask where it is repository of   last versions of gcruntime , where I can downloaded them from with comments on revisions. ( As it is now with Code Composer).   By the way some last version gcruntime v7  did not work correctly  with my project and I had to return to previous version of gcruntime  ( GUI Composer v2). That is why I asked, hoping that there are already new revisions correctly work and worrying is it OK with GUI Composer.

  • Michael,

The same sort of archive page does not does not exist for the GCv2 runtimes.

The designer will always provide a link to the latest runtime.  7.2.0 currently.

If there is a specific version needed I can likely get a link for you (need version and OS).

If you published a GUI to your Gallery it will give you a download link to the version of the runtime that matches when it was created.  For example I have some old ones here using v4 of the runtime.

Similarly for any of the public apps in the Gallery.

I will see if I can get the links to the 7.1.0 runtime.

    Regards,

    John
