CCS version 10.1.0.00010 won't debug, MSP430 error "Unknown device"

Hello,

I am programming an MSP430FR2100 on the DRV8210EVM using an MSP-EXP430FR5969 LaunchPad over SBW. The MSP430 is removed from the LaunchPad, so only the MSP on the DRV8210 will be targeted. My colleague is able to build and debug the firmware with an older version of CCS. I am able to build the project, but not able to go into debug mode on the exact same setup. I downloaded and imported the firmware from the DRV8210EVM product folder. I keep getting the error "Error connecting to the target: Unknown device."

I recently installed CCS, so I have not previously debugged a project since installing this version.

Hi, eZFET on launchpad can debug MSP430FR2100 through SBW. Please review the connection between the launchpad and DRV8210EVM according to page 12 "2.2.2eZ-FETlite OnboardEmulator" of MSP430F5529 LaunchPad Development Kit (MSP-EXP430F5529LP) User's Guide (Rev. D) . Thanks!

Hi Xiaodong,

My connections and hardware should all be correct. My coworker plugged the USB into his computer and was able to program the MPS430FR2100 on the exact same setup. To me, this shows that the problem is with CCS on my computer.

Is there something I need to add or that I missed when installing the latest CCS?

I read some things about the MSP430 DLL. Is there a way I can check if this is installed?

Hi James

May I confirm if your computer can't recognize target device (FR2100) but your coworker's computer can debug using the same board (MSP-EXP430FR5969+DRV8210EVM ). if yes, I am not sure the cause of this issue. But I think you can install the latest version of CCS (10.3) and have a try.

Hello Xiaodong,

I tried a second LaunchPad and was able to get it to work. The issue must be with the first LaunchPad. It was just by chance that my colleague was able to program with it.
