XDS510USB (Rev.A) Emulator connection failure (Error 0x80000240/-1135)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6414T, TMS320C6416, TMS320C6421

We have two Spectrum Digital XDS510USB JTAG emulators (Rev.A)   purchased around 2003.

We use these emulators to debug TMS320C5502 processor with code composer studio v3.1.

It works fine.

Recently, we have another project using a different type of processor.

We develop the platform board which contains TMS320C6414T.

We heard XDS510USB JTAG can be applied to C6000 series. so we try to use it.

When we try to connect the target board, then these error messages occurs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000240/-1135
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,
Unrecoverable emulation error

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So  we change the development environments. (Change one thing from original setting)

Test with TMS320C6416 DSK (720MHz) : same error messages.

Test with CCS v3.1, v.3.3, v4.2.3: Same error messages.

Test with TMS320C5502: works fine.

Test with XDS560: works fine.

Would you please help me ? how can I resolve it?

  • Hi,

Indeed this issue is very strange, as some reported issues are caused by a connection misconfiguration. In your case this seems to indicate there is an issue with either the Spectrum Digital's device drivers or a hardware detail on the C6414 board that does not affect the XDS560.

From your description I am not sure if all versions of CCS are installed in the same machine. If they are, then an uncovered incompatibility may exist between these versions and their interaction with the emulation device drivers. I suggest installing CCSv4.2.3 in a fresh PC and attempt connecting to all the boards.

If the CCS versions are installed in different PCs, I would install the latest device drivers from Spectrum Digital's support website: CCSv3.1 and CCSv3.3 (CCSv4 are bundled).

From your description I am also not sure if you are able to connect to the C5502 board using CCSv4.2.3 and the XDS510USB emulator. Can you test this? This would rule out any issues with CCSv4 itself.

    Regards,

    Rafael
