CCS V4.0.2 License Issue

I had CCS V4.0.2 working on my computer. After a while I started getting asked to specify a license whenever the software started up. I downloaded the free license and specified it. However, whenever I compile it asks for a different license because "You are not licensed to use the currently configured connection-type." When I specify the license file again I get the error:

Exception occurred during launch

Reason:

No such feature exists,

Feature: CCS_CONNECTION_ALL

License path etc. etc. etc.

FLEXnet Licensing error:-5,357

I installed CCS initially from the MSP430 EZ430-RF2500 demo kits.

Any help would be appreciated as I need to conduct updates to my firmware ASAP.

Were you using the 30 day evaluation license?

Which free license? The 90 day extension or the free limited license? The latter does not support MSP430.

I've tried the limited free license and also registering the software online. I get the same errors. There are other computers in the lab using CCSV4.0.2 for the MSP and they have not had license issues. I installed directly from the CD that was received with the EZ430-RF2500.

That license does not support MSP430.

I'm not sure what CCS comes with the kit but it looks like you have the CCSv4 platinum version since the CCSv4 MCU version should not ask for a license as it has a free code-size limited license built in.

Eric - I'm sure exactly what type of CCS install or license you have but let's go over what (permanent) options are available for you on MSP430:

- 16 KB code size limited option (free)

- Node locked license (~$450)

- Floating license (~$795 for one floating license)

If you purchase one of the latter two, you will get a code that you can then use to active CCS and get a full license file. The code-size limited option does not need a code. With v4, there is a special version that comes with a built-in license. With v5, there is no special version. You can just select the option to generate an internal license in the standard install.

If you have not been using any of the options I mentioned, I suspect you were using the time based 30-day evaluation version and the eval time expired. You can extend that time to add another 90 days (not sure if you did this already).
