support for using Segger J-Link in CCS V5.5.0.00077 available?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C123GH6PGE, LM3S6911

Hi,

according to Seggers Website (http://www.segger.com/ti-code-composer-studio.html) there should be support for using their J-Link with TI's Code Composer Studio (V5.4.0 was mentioned with J-Link SW version V4.76e).

I have installed the latest CCS (V5.5.0.00077) and also the latest J-Link SW package (V4.78l at the time of writing).

But there's no J-Link available from the connection drop down-menu!

I've tested with a J-Link EDU and with a J-Link Ultra+. Both tools were confirmed working with various IDEs!

Thanks for answering, kind regards
aBUGSworstnightmare

Edit: I'm running CCS on a Win7 x64 OS

  • Hi Rafael,

o.K.! I see that I need to be more precise on this issue!

The target MCU is a TIVA C series device.

The link you've provided doesn't has the information on this! In addition, the wiki (J-Link emulator support) http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/J-Link_Emulator_Support is outdated (talking about Stellaris support) and only has some installation packages for Win32 hosts.

As mentioned in my initial post I'm using a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional for working with CCS (since CCS still has no OS X support ;-)!).

    Kind regards

  • aBUGSworstnightmare,

The additional details help. I use the J-Link support v0.1.0.4 in my CCSv5.5 and my LM4F232H5QD evaluation kit (a device identical to a TM4C123GH6PGE) and it works fine. My OS is Windows 7 64-bit.

I also updated the page to reflect the new device families and removed/re-wrote some confusing points. Thanks for pointing those out.

    Cheers,

    Rafael

  • Rafael,

I am having this same problem where the Seeger JLink is not listed in the target configuration drop down. I was using v5.3  with the JLink without a problem. I upgraded to CCS v5.5 and now there is no support for JLink. listed in the drop down. I reinstalled the JLink drivers but no change. I reinstalled CCS, no change.

I am working with a Stellaris part LM3S6911. I am trying to make improvements to an existing system.

Also your response did not answer the original question posed by a bugsworstnightmare. Although the answer is verified it is not clear that the problem was ever fixed or what was done to fix the problem. The only thing that is clear is that you have JLink is working on your system. How you made that work is the information needed.

This seems to  be a typical situation with CCS. When ever I change some thing with the CCS environment it seems to start  a new series of unrelated problems.
