Thank you for your fast response.
Which CGT folder in D:\CCStudio_v3.3 do you mean ?
Michael
It should be possible to do it by copying in the new compiler.
Get it so CCS can find and build with the original compiler again.
Then back up D:\CCStudio_v3.3\C2000\cgtools
Delete the contents
Copy in the new compiler
Start CCS.
Component manager does some funny things that Win7 may not like. It rights its database out to a file and then puts that in the registry it also registers and unregisters a couple of COM components. Probably the last part failing.

JohnS, I saw that you helped some v3.3 users through their 64-bit compatibility issues. I'm having similar issues, but I haven't been able to get the program to work. I get the error:
"Unable to find an appropriate registry key for "TMS320C28XX" Target driver: C:\..."
I have the uac settings off, and I have the program stored away from the Program Files or (x86) folders. Also, I have the driver for the SD XDS510 USB, so my computer recognizes it correctly.
Do you know how to fix the error above?
Now, what I'm trying to do it transfer v3.3 from one computer to the next, where the next cpu is 64-bit and the old one is 32-bit. I used a flash drive to transfer CCStudio over. Would it be better to just download this v3.3 from the TI website? If so, is there a link to re-download v3.3?
Jonathan,
Transferring CCS via flash drive won't work very well. There are a bunch of things in the windows registry that are needed. Reinstalling on the new machine is really the only way to go. I can send you a private message with a download link.

John
Hey rrlagic,
Did you ever use the SD XDS510USB PLUS with CCSv3.3 on a 64-bit Windows 7 cpu? I'm trying to connect my CCSv3.3 to the emulator/target, but it's not working. I think that you were able to get this to work. How did you go about getting this system to connect? I think I might be missing a step considering I don't even see the "xds510usb emulator" appear in the platform section of the CCS setup app. Do you know how to fix this issue?
Thanks,
John
Hello,
I do confirm that I was able to run CCS 3.3 on Win7 x64 machine with SD XDS510 USB emulator. Not "plus", just XDS510 USB.
Followup to the previous posts about using SD XDS510USB Plus with CCSv3.3 on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine:
When I downloaded the files to Spectrum Digital, they were installed in a different folder than the CCS version. So, I had to create a board in CCS setup using this information (and searching through the SD folder that was downloaded with the driver sdgo28xusb.dvr):
Board setup –
1) Connection type Other 510-Class emulator
2) Diagnostics Utility: None
3) Emulator Filename: xds510.dll
4) Emulator I/O Port: 0x510
CPU Setup (TMS320C28xx_0) –
1) Device Type: CPU
2) GEL File: C:\ti\cc\gel\f28335.gel
3) Master/Slave: N/A
4) Startup Mode: Stop-mode
I'm running CCS 3.3.82.13 on Windows 7 Enterprise together with Blackhawk LAN560 or Spectrum Digital XDS510 USB emulators. Generally, the setup works fine except for some crashes that occur sometimes when I use RTDX.
However, there is an annoying problem with the 'Finde in Files...' feature. Most of the time (not always) Code Composer hangs when I use this menu selection and the application must be killed with the task manager and then restarted.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Many thanks for helping,
Roland
Hi,
I've installed following products currently on my Windows 7 64bit PC and are all working fine.
1. Code Composer Essentials 2.0
2. CCS v3.3
3. CCS v4
4. CCS v5.3
5. CCS v5.5
6. CCS Uniflash v2.2.0
Had few stability issues with CCS v5.4; so got it upgraded!
Rest all's fine,
Gautam
(Thank you TI)
Hi JohnS,
I have a similar issue to Michael's:
I’m trying to run CCS3.3 on Win7 64-bit with Blackhawk USB560M JTAG Emulator. I've followed the 4 steps mentioned in one of the postings above.
When I installed BHEMU-SetupCCS_v3.3.300.3 as suggested and connected the usb cable of the emulator into the Win7 64-bit PC, an error message popped up saying “Device driver softwary was not successfully installed”.
I even tried BHEMU-SetupCCS_v3.3.300.8 but to no avail. I ran BHdetect and got the attached results for your information.
Please let me know if you need more information.
I’d appreciate it if you could help me out.

Kay,
The "Device driver software was not successfully installed" message would need to be looked into by Blackhawk. I haven't had issues with that but it has been a while since I have tried so it could be a compatibility issue with a newer Win7 service pack.
Since I have CCSv4/5/6 installed on all my machines I have newer OS drivers from those installs. That might actually be a solution. You could download CCSv6 and check the box to install the drivers for Blackhawk. That would get you the latest OS drivers for the emulator. CCSv6 can be downloaded here: processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS
