Hello,
I am using a MSP430FG4619 mounted on a MSP-TS430PZ100 development board. I downloaded CCSv5 and am trying to connect to the target using a MSP-FET430UIF. I received the board pre-assembled and previously used with no known hardware issues.
Upon installation, I updated both the FET driver to version 1.4.0.0 and CCS to version 5.5.0.00077. The device manager recognizes the FET and connected it to COM3. Having never used CCS before, I was following the "Get Started with Code Composer" video from TI on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK9jnTPwRa0), and when I tried to connect to the target, I got an "Error connecting to target: unknown device".
I verified the voltage on all VCC pins, so the board seems to be receiving power from the JTAG connector. I pulled up RESET to high as well, but to no avail. I am not sure what the issue is.
Upon researching the forums, some solutions suggested trying to connect with free software from elprotrnic.com. I couldnt find a download link there, that was free anyway. I perused the user guide (slau056l.pdf) and datasheet (slas508i.pdf) but could not find out whether additional pin connections were necessary or an external crystal (32.768k) was required.
Thanks for your help,
RIchard Palmer
