Compiler crashes on Windows 7

Hello all,

I'm using CCSv4.0.0.16000 to develop for the MSP430. This issue has occurred with previous versions of CCSv4. From time to time, when I "Build Active Project" or "Rebuild Active Project", I get the following messages:

Then when I click on details I get:

Does anyone have a clue about how to debug this problem? I have tried uninstalling CCS and reinstalling and I still get the error. I have not been able to recreate this error deterministically. It will happen that I build, get the error, then clean and build, with no error.

the cl2000 seems to work without crashes on my system.

I confirm that the 6.1.15 alpha version of cl6x .exe behaves much better than previous versions. I can repeatedly compile both of my projects without any kind of crash. I am curious as to what the issue was and what the Microsoft compiler has to do with it. Thanks very much for solving it!

But on my WinXP the version 5.2.7 crashes too sporadically :(

I've installed CC3.3 and I'm using the cl2000.exe

have you already found the root cause of this issue? I would be really interested in an update.

Further on I would like to know when I can expect a released version of the code generation tools containing the bugfix.

The fix for this defect is available in these releases:

1. C6x 6.1.15, 7.0.3

2. ARM 4.6.4

3. MSP430 3.3.0

4. C28x 5.2.7 (available by 7/30/2010)

5. C55 4.3.7 (available by 8/16/2010)

Hi,

thanks for this fast reply with such good news. One additional question I have: will the C28x 5.2.7 be able to link objects/libraries built with version 5.25?
