Code Composer V3.3, Piccolo 28022, and XDS5120PP+

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSDOCK28027

Hello fine forum people:

I would like to connect my custom board design (a Piccolo 28022) to my CCS v3.3 (Full version) using a XDS510PP pod.

I can connect to my board using the XDS510PP pod OK with the Spectrum Digital stuff (SDConfig, and SDFlash.)

Also, I am using an evaluation kit (TMDSDOCK28027 docking station with Piccolo Control Card) via USB for testing software with CCS v3.3, and that is working too.

I would like to get CCS to use the XDS510PP to my board, rather then the evaluation unit via the USB.

Can someone point me to literature on a good how-to, or maybe explain how to here.

Thanks, Mark.

  • Hello Mark,
I assume you are using the XDS510PP+ from Spectrum Digital. I would suggest going to their site for documentation on getting started with the emulator:

    emulators.spectrumdigital.com (look for XDS510PP PLUS)

There is also a troubleshooting guide:
    support.spectrumdigital.com/.../troubleshooting_guide

I found that theXDS510PP+ worked more reliability on older PCs for whatever reason. Likely because they were tested on similar spec-ed PCs as this emulator is really old. You may have to fidget with the Parallel Port settings in the PC BIOS and play around to see which setting works best (ECP/EPP/SPP, etc). Good luck!
