XDS100v2 usage problem with CCS v3.3

Dear All,

One of my customer working on TMS320F28027PTR part and developed code based on CCS V3.3 and using XDS100v2 JTAG probe. when they connect XDS100v2 with CCS v3.3 it is showing device target not detected. when they try with CCS latest version CCS v6.1 it is showing some linker issues. I came accross wikipage that XDS100v2 not supported on CCS v3.3, please advise workaround to use XDS100v2 with CCS v3.3 or advise things that needs to be done to get rid of this, thanks.

  • Aravind,

As you said, CCSv3.3 does not support XDS100v2. The alternative is to try and find a XDS100v1 JTAG debugger or get a Blackhawk USB100v2 Model D that features a "rollback mode" that mimics a XDS100v1. For details, check their page at:
    www.blackhawk-dsp.com/.../USB100v2D.aspx

    Hope this helps,

  • Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply-it was helpful. customer also need to know the below-kindly advise.
I have a rectifier installed in one state and I want to update the rectifier software from other state. Then I must be able to update it. So the process will be like
    1. I will send the software to my master controller through Ethernet or any other media. This lies in customeer scope.
    2. Next once the master controller has received the software it will transfer that to my rectifier controller through RS485 communication. So does my rectifier controller have the feature of updating through RS485 ? or should I add any extra hardware to get this feature?
    Aravind.
  • Aravind,

From my experience both these questions will have to be planned and implemented by the customer, but the C2000 devices have a serial flash programming method that can help with the second question:
    www.ti.com/.../sprabv4a.pdf

Apart from this, I would strongly recommend you to continue this discussion in the C2000 device forum, as the experts there have much more experience with the device.

    Regards,
    Rafael
