CCS/AM1707: How to add EVMAM1707 support to CCS v6.2

Part Number: AM1707

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Support Path: /Tools & software/Help me with an issue/Design Kits / Evaluation Modules / Boards/Software issue/

I have located and downloaded the GEL file from Spectrum Digital, but I can't find any instructions for adding board support to CCS other than "re-run the installer and pick the board you want."  CCS v6.2 supports the EVMAM1808, but not the EVMAM1707.  I duplicated the EVMAM1808 directory structure as EVMAM1707 and placed the GEL in the appropriate subdirectory, but CCS doesn't recognize it.  I have also located and downloaded a "board configuration" file from Spectrum Digital (filetype is ".ccs"), but cannot find any instructions for how to use that file.  I opened the file to see if I could derive understanding from its contents, but they are binary with a few description strings, so that was not helpful.

I really don't want to have to install CCS v4 alongside my working v6.2 system just to support this eval board.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

CCSv6.2 has a pre-configured EVMAM1707 configuration fully furnished with GEL files, but only if you installed the Spectrum Digital support as well as Sitara support during install.

Can you double-check and see if you have a file as shown below?

    C:\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\common\targetdb\boards\evmam1707.xml

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Thank you Rafael, for the speed and usefulness of your answer!

(I feel a bit foolish having missed that, but I was expecting it under Sitara, and thought SpectrumDigital was just the JTAG drivers.)
  • Hi,

    www.youtube.com/watch

First of all, you should click on the ccxml fie in target configuration folder in the project explorer project window like the image bellow.

Then you can find your board and emulator like the image bellow.

Next step is to adding GEL file in the way I am going to show you.

    Click on Target Configuration.

At the last step you can simply add the GEL file by clicking on browse button.

    Hope this helps.

You are not alone; I went through this a few times. Given the board itself was manufactured and marketed by Spectrum Digital, they retained the proper support files on their install package (there are just one or two exceptions).
