CCS/MSP430F2011: CCS 8.1 Project Import fails with older CCS 7.x project

Part Number: MSP430F2011

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I get an error when I try to import a project last used with CCS 7.x when I try to import the project into a fresh install of CCS 8.1. The error message detail is:

See details below.
Error: Import failed for project 'SW67411B0-01' because its meta-data cannot be interpreted. Please contact support.

I am using Windows 10 Pro 1803 (build 17134.112) and Code Composer Studio Version: 8.1.0.00011. Only Windows Defender antivirus.

I can supply the project files I am trying to import if someone at TI wants them to investigate this issue.

I'm not sure which version of CCS was last used with this project, but I believe it was 7.2. I have moved to a new PC and just installed the latest CCS.

  • Hi Dennis,
If you can provide those project files (the .*project files in the project folder), that would be very helpful. You can send it to me via private message if you do not wish to post publicly.

    Thanks

  • I think I figured it out.

I had previously tried to use the File->Open Projects From File System which created a .project file in that directory. After I deleted that project file the Project->Import CCS Projects... function worked as expected, and I can now rebuild the project.

Thanks for the offer of support though.
  • Ah, ok. Yes, you need to use the latter option for CCS projects. Glad to hear you resolved the issue and thanks for the update!
