CCS/CCSTUDIO-SAFETY: CCS + XDS200 licence required?

Part Number: CCSTUDIO-SAFETY

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I have been using CCS with LaunchPad (JTAG XDS100v2) for few months. I would like to start bulding PCB and switch to XDS200. What about CCS licence? I have read that CCS need licence when you are using something else than XDS100. But I can't find any information / priceing. Could somebody clarify it?

The second queston is about drivers generated by HalCoGen. I am going to start work on commercial project. Can I use (in my project) files generated by HalCoGen (e.g. GIO, ADC libraries etc.)? What are the rules of using them?

  • Michal,

We no longer charge for CCS licenses. We used to have a model where you could use XDS100 for free but then when you moved to a higher performance debug probe (i.e. past evaluation stage) you had to purchase a CCS license. That is no longer the case.

I am not sure which version of CCS you have. As long as it is a newer one you will be able to use the XDS200 fine. If you are using CCSv6 or older it will prompt for a license file. We have license files available for download here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Download_CCS

    Regards,
    John
  • Hello Michal,

installing CCS you have accepted TI's License Terms and you have obtained a license(s).
CCS is for free with any debug probe.

As I remember, HalCoGen is for free. www.ti.com/.../safeti-halcogen-csp

Check this link to see what is not for free: www.ti.com/.../safeti_cqkit
