CCS/TMS320F28022: Updating View Contributations

Part Number: TMS320F28022

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Win7 32 bit, CCS v8, F28022.

This is a problem in CCS6, and I see it is still here in CCS8.

Sooo, adding a bunch of new features, but not fixing bugs. Hmmm, sounds a lot like Ubuntu.

This little window starts popping up once in a while and goes through about 20-30 iterations before it stops. Sometimes it never stops and I have to quit CCS and restart.

Really, a PITA.

Mark.

  • Mark,

We have never been able to reproduce this one. There are a few reports of it on the forums over the years. For most users it goes away on its own. Others have stated that it goes aware after a reinstall (I am not suggesting you do that).

Would you be able to attach your workspace log? If you look in the .metadata folder within the workspace there may be some .log files in it.

    Regards,
    John
  • John:

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

The next time it occurs, I will gather the log file and see if there is any proprietary info and do my best to post it.

I note the issue crops up when the computer is busy with a lot of things going on. (Firefox running, Adobe PDF readers, etc.)

My MoBo is maxed out at 4GB RAM (minus, of course, what is needed by Windows and video drivers and all.) Task manager, reports 2.8 GB available.

If I quit Firefox, the problem seldom occurs, although I have seen it without Firefox once. I understand Firefox is quite the memory hog.

Also, If I am running a virtual machine the issue happens more often.

I feel that when memory gets lo, Windows may be swapping stuff to the page file and that may slow CCS to the point it decides to popup this warning when it takes too long to "repaint" other windows.

Of course, the act of popping up that warning further slows CCS.

I would love to become an Eclipse committer, but I have another path to follow.

    Mark.
