MSP430F67791: SLAA577 code not compiling in CCS

Part Number: MSP430F67791
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-F6779, MSP-ISO, CAPTIVATE-PGMR, MSP430F5529

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I have bought MSP430F67791 3 phase meter. From the product phase i downloaded the software "slaa577g" I tried to build the software using CCS 9.2.

1. Open CCS project for MSP430F67791 with a main.c using new project option.

2. I am trying to import the "SLAA577g" software into the above project.

3. I am trying to build the same but it throws lots of errors.

Am I missing any step? Can I build the 3 phase meter product using CCS?

I removed all the IAR components. but still it does not build the SW. once this SW works as it was loaded in the evaluation board, then I can do the changes.

A quick help is appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Sriram

  • Hello Sriram,

SLAA577 does not support CCS and has limited to no support moving forward. We recommend that you use our Energy Measurement Design Center and software library which does support CCS and the EVM430-F6779.

  • Thanks James for the response.

I have moved to EMDC but we need  the HID bridge and MSP-ISo board. Is there any oter Launchpad can be used as UID bridge? procurement delays the whole project.

  • Hi Sriram,

The MSP-EXP430F5529 is the only LaunchPad that we recommend for the HID Bridge. As an alternative, you could use the MSP430 CapTIvate MCU Programmer (CAPTIVATE-PGMR) board which is based on the MSP430F5529, but you wouldn't need to program it since it's already been programmed as the HID Bridge and supports our Design Center communication protocol. You could also order the Capacitive touch communications isolation board (CAPTIVATE-ISO) board instead of the MSP-ISO.

These boards definitely work with EMDC but we didn't want to confuse users with the Captivate-branded tools. I hope this helps your procurement time.

Please let me know if you have any questions. If you start using EMDC and run into an issue, please post it in a new thread. Thanks.

    Regards,

    James
