CCS/66AK2H06: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U driver issue for Windows 10

Part Number: 66AK2H06
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

My customer is facing the same issue of the original thread.
According to the thread, there are two workarounds:
a) Disable secure boot in Windows10
b) Update the Blackhawk Emulation package

Customer cannot take a) due to security reason, so b) is the only option.
One problem is their PC is not connected to network, so CCS on-line update feature cannot be used.
The CCS version is v8.3.

Question:
Is it possible just update the Blackhawk emulation package without updating CCS itself?
If so how?
Below thread mentioned how to extract the Blackhawk driver from CCS offline package.
https://e2e.ti.com/support/tools/ccs/f/81/t/709012
But as far as I looked at CCS9.3.0.00012_win64 off-line installer,
there is no such directory “featurerepo/binary” nor package “com.bh.ccstudio.emulation.win32_root_<version number>”

Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro

  • Koichiro,

The installer software used by CCS since version 9.2 has changed thus, while providing added stability for the end user, it removed the conveniently packaged files in .jar format and replaced it with proprietary .pak format. In this case, there is no way to extract the same package using this method.

On the other hand, if you apply the Blackhawk update to a CCSv8.x on a host connected to the internet, you can install version 6.2.0.011 by copying the installer executable file <bh_emupack_setup_6.2.0.011.exe> from the directory: C:\ti\ccsv8\eclipse\downloads

Just be sure to copy the file before CCS restarts to install the update. Otherwise, the file will be automatically deleted by the updater.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
