Hi Todd,

we are now starting a new development with C2838xD. It's a motor control application . We have also noticed with the new Code Composer Studio (version 10.2.0.00009) that TI-RTOS for C2000 does not show up in Resource Explorer. You write: "We have stopped validating TI-RTOS for C2000 against newer compiler versions". Does it mean that using SYS/BIOS with C2838xD is not recommended for the future? Your answer is very important for us. If TI stops the support of SYS/BIOS for C2800 in the future, we will start the development without SYS/BIOS.

The F2838x is supported by SYS/BIOS. If you look at the release notes of the newer versions of SYS/BIOS you'll see it in the supported devices list.

The examples aren't accessible through Resource Explorer, but you can still get to them through the new project creation window. See if this FAQ helps:

thank you for the quick reply.
Does TMS320F2838X in "Supported Devices" mean that all devices F28384S, F28386S, F28388S and F28384D, F28386D, F28388D are supported?
what is the most important criterion for a device to be supported or not?
In the list "Supported Devices" I see for example that TMS320F28377D is supported, but TMS320F28379D not listed.

On website https://www.ti.com/microcontrollers-mcus-processors/microcontrollers/c2000-real-time-control-mcus/products.html#p3164=800;800 one can compare the two devices with each other. There is no difference. The difference shown (framed in red) is not correct. Both devices have "Configurable Logic Block" and "External Memory Interface" (please see page 19 of "C2000 Real-Time Control MCU Peripherals" on page https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru566n/spru566n.pdf?ts=1618550162890)

Yes, all of those different F2838x variants are supported. F28379D is too. It was released little later than the other F2837x part numbers, so I suspect we forgot to go back and add it to the table.

I think the table in the peripheral doc is a bit misleading. The product comparison on the site is correct--CLB is not supported on F28377D. I'll file a bug report against the document to see if we can add a note to clarify this.

Regarding devices supported by SYS/BIOS, it is clear now.

Please excuse that we have one more question from your last answer.

For our application we need

- "Configurable Logic Block" CLB as encoder interface and

- "External Memory Interface" EMIF to access an Dual Port Ram, which we will extend externally.

Are the specifications (framed in red) correct? ( see Table 17 on page 21 of "C2000 Real-Time Control MCU Peripherials" on website https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru566n/spru566n.pdf?ts=1618550162890).

Only the two devices 28384D and 28384S have no CLB. All others have CLB.
All devices of serie TMS320F2838X have "External Memory Interface".
And what about TMS320F28379, does this device also have an “External Memory Interface”?

Take a look at the "Device Comparison" table in the data sheet. I think it's probably the clearest source for this kind of information. It looks like you are correct about the F2838x (only F28384 appears to lack the CLB). The F28379 and F28378 both have package options that support both CLB and at least one EMIF instance.
