Windows 8 driver for the SPIO-4 module

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP90100

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum.

Is there a Windows 8 driver for the SPIO-4 module? My experience with TI so far leads me to believe there is not.

Matt

  • The SPIO-4 module has not been tested with Windows 8.  Are you able to use the board in 32-bit compatibility mode?

  • I am able to run the NI LMP90100 software in 32-bit compatibility mode, but no board is recognized by the software. There is an error shown in the device manager for the SPIO-4 module, and any attempt to manually install the included driver is fruitless.

  • Apparently the board has been tested using Windows 8. My problem seems to be trying to install a 32-bit driver on a 64-bit machine.

  • If y'all could just say it hasn't been done yet, I could pick a new ADC and get on with it.

  • Matt,

Sorry for the delay.  We are still investigating.  What version of WIndows 8 are you running.

    • Windows 8 (basic edition) o
    • Windows 8 Pro
    • Windows 8 Enterprise
    • Windows 8 RT

What type of machine (desktop/laptop/ tablet)? Brand would be usefull as well.

  • Hi Richard,

I am using Windows 8 Basic on an HP Pavilion with an Intel i5-3330 x64-based processor.

  • Matt:

Sorry this took so long, but TI did some testing and found the issue you are running into.  See below.

We have tested and verified the problem with the driver being unsigned.  While we are working on a permanent fix (this may take some time working with MS), we have found a work around that allows you to install the unsigned SPIO 4 driver:

    • Pass the mouse on the lower right corner and choose "Settings"
    • Then "Change PC Settings" -> "General" and on the bottom under "Advanced startup" you click "Restart Now"
    • After that you choose "Troubleshoot" -> "Advanced options" -> "Startup Settings" and click "Restart"
    • Now the pc has restarted and shows some options.
    • Press the key 7 for "Disable driver signature enforcement"

There you go. Now you can install any unsigned driver. Keep in mind that may need re-install these drivers if you need to reboot the machine (although we have not seen this case).

Let me know how this works for you.

    Regards,

  • I ran into that exact problem. I am running windows 10 64-bit.

After enabling unsigned drivers, it worked fine for me.
