TINA/Spice/MSP430F5515: Where can I get SPICE or VHDL for MSP430F5515?

Part Number: MSP430F5515
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hello!

I want to include my MCU, MSP430F5515 in my schematic and then use that to make PCB design.

But the tools I have just downloaded TINA 11 demo version. It provides MCUs like AVR, PIC, ARM, etc. There's no MCU that starts with MSP~~~. And even Texas Instuments is not listed in the manufacturer's select combo box.

How can I insert MSP430F5515 in my design???

Please help me. I would prefer using TINA 11.

  • Hello Sukho,

According to TIer Cameron LaFollette's reply to a different E2E thread: "...we do not offer simulation models for MSP's (or any MCU, so far as I am aware)." that is "...due to the nature of the product, it would be far too complicated to model all of the device's operations, settings, and so forth". This is referring for the MSP430 as a whole.

However, according to TIer A. Rebel's reply to this other E2E thread it seems like we do have Simulation Models for the MSP430's Op Amp available, but seem to be different MSP430 Product, that is the MSP430F2274 and found in the MSP430F2274 Product Folder under the "Tools & Software: Models" section--you would need to check the validity of these models for your MSP430 since you are using a different MSP430.

Please do note that I am not part of the Simulations Experts Team, but I wanted to point out a couple of historical replies that might help you in your search. It might also be helpful to our WEBENCH/Simulations team if you provided more details about what you are trying to accomplish with the model and, please do expect a delay on response as we are currently are on holidays at TI.

  • Thank you, Victor;

Thank you for your kind help.

I think I got the hang of it now.

For anyone else who may be in a same situation as I, I continued searching for what I needed in the forum and there was a person pointing out the resource "Quality and Packaging" from which I can download ".bxl" file and the tool to convert to the bxl file to EagleCad library.

I can now insert MSP430F5515 in my schematic editor.... bingo...

    Thank you once again.

    Sukho

  • Sukho,

The .bxl files create only a symbols/footprint for the device. There is no simulation information provided. These files can be used for board layout, however, these are not VHDL or SPICE files that can be used for electrical simulation.
