TIDA-00851-LDC0851: LDC0851

Part Number: TIDA-00851-LDC0851
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC0851

Dear sir,

I am planning to replace traditional proximity sensor discrete circuit  with the chip LDC0851.

For coil design the recommended thickness for the PCB as well as copper  is not matching with the fabrication data.

How will it affect the coil parameters?

Regards

  • Hi Seema,
Thank you for your inquiry. I'm working internally to get right person to answer your question.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • Hello Seema,
the PCB is 1.6mm thick. This aligns with the specifications in the fabrication data. Where do you see a mismatch?

Smaller gaps between the PCB layers result in higher coil inductance. In case of stacked coil design, thicker PCB core between the sense and the reference coil can increase the switching distance.
  • Dear Ben,

    Thanks for the replay.
We have designed coil for 4mm sensing.
    As per CAD generated :
top layer copper 1 oZ is matching
Top to Mid1 Thickness 203 Micrometer is deviating to 210 micrometer
Mid1 to mid 2 layer thickness is 929 micrometer is deviating to 1000 micrometer
Mid2 to bottom layer thickness is 203 micrometer is deviating to 210 micrometer.

Where shall we compensate for the deviation?
