TINA/Spice/THS4521: Open SPICE models from TI?

Part Number: THS4521
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

I can normally use a PSPICE model in my simulation but it seems PSPICE models as provided by TI are more and more deleting the SPICE model .cir file that can be used.  I'm heavily invested in my simulator and would like to continue using it.  Can I still get normal PSPICE models anymore, and if so how?

THS4521 is my current need.

BTW, I've read the FAQ on using models in other simulators but frankly it's not much use as the model appear to be more and more not provided, even one's that used to be available. This is sad.

Thanks,

David B

  • David,

If you download the PSPICE model from http://www.ti.com/product/THS4521/toolssoftware, you will get a zip file. This is an entire Cadence SPB project you can open. If you only need the ASCII text file of the model, it is "THS4521.lib" in the zip file.

I am not sure about what you meant "deleting .cir". It's just a file extension.

    JC

  • Yup, you are right. I was looking for the .cir file and thought the .lib was something else. Thanks.

I might suggest updating the FAQ on external simulation SPICE models.  It sends users to go search for 'unencrypted models' but when 'unencrypted' is entered as a filter parameter all The THSxxx models do not appear anymore.  This, in addition to not seeing the .cir files referenced in other forum posts, is in part why I concluded the normal SPICE models must not be in there anymore.
