TIDA-01485: Several Questions about Design

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA, MSP430F5132

Hello,

I had this PCB built for educational purposes, and I have not been able to get it to work yet. I have a few questions.

(1) On sheet 4 of 5 of the schematic, SL_C is shown connected to C18 next to the Phase B MOSFET power block. Is this correct or should it be connected to SL_B?

(2) I am somewhat confused about the notes on the schematic pertaining to whether or not certain components should or should not be installed. For example, all of the various notes below the 3-phase gate driver on sheet 1, and the note on sheet 3 pertaining to R17 and R18. I am just trying to use both the PCB design and MSP430 firmware code "as is", and it is not very apparent to me at this point as to what I need to install or not.

(3) I am new to the MSP430. Is there is a particular feature of the MSP430F5132 that makes it more conducive to this design over all the other variations if MSP430 micro controllers? I am thinking about trying to port the program over to Energia as a learning exercise once I get the PCB working. It appears as though there are only a select few MSP430 micro controllers that are Energia Launchpad compatible.

Thank you,
