TIDA-00317: Sensor information

Part Number: TIDA-00317
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FDC1004,

Good morning, I have some questions about the use of the sensor in combination with FDC1004.
1) In the demonstration video it explains that the sensor can be used also not in contact with the vessel, up to what distance it can be used to have a good level measurement resolution (<2.5mm)
2) were tests carried out with recipients of different materials such as glass, pet? I was thinking of using it to measure the level of bottle filling in the food & beverage sector
3) how is the maximum sampling frequency?
4) in case of presence of foam (for example for the measurement of beer level) according to you how does it behave?

Thank you

Best regards

  • Hi Alberto,

This app note about direct vs. remote liquid level sensing may help you. It contains information about the sensing distance as well as liquid considerations. I do not believe that multiple receptacle materials were tested, but the experiment setup is explained in the app note, so the experiment can be repeated with different receptacle materials.

The maximum sampling frequency of the FDC1004 (the device used in TIDA-00317) is 400S/s.

I would recommend testing this yourself in a lab, but my team believes that for the same volume of liquid, an airless liquid and a foamy liquid would have very similar capacitance readings.

    Regards,
