PMP20489: why doesn't TI standardize the reference design info?

Part Number: PMP20489
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00774, LM5010, TIDA-01168

Why doesn't TI standardize the reference design info? For example, this particular project has no write up. Other do! For example the TIDA-00774 and the TIDA-01168 are excellent. The TIDA-01168 is especially good because of the high resolution images of the assembled board.  I'm in the process of utilizing the LM5010 in a project after I found it in the TIDA-01168 project!

I'd like to see high resolution images of the assembled board AND of the blank PCB in a write-up.

Thanks!

  • Thomas, hello and thanks for your interest in Texas Instruments, in particular, our TI Designs. In response to your E2E question and feedback, I'm happy to let you know that recently we actually have standardized our TI Design information on TI.com. Now, all our TI Designs, including our newer Power Supply designs, include a brief one page write up introduction to accompany the test report. That first page has the same look/feel as all other TI Designs we already have. Additionally, the newer Power designs also include higher resolution images.

The improvements that I mention above will be reflected in our newer Power Designs (PMPXXXX and TIDA-XXXX) going forward. Since January 2017, we have been providing standardized designs for our Industrial and Automotive systems designs (TIDX-XXXX designs). Unfortunately however, we won't be going back to retrofit the older designs produced prior to 2017. Some will, but that decision will reside with the businesses that own the respective designs.

I hope that this explanation provides you with some insight on our TI Design offering. Again, thank you for your interest in Texas Instruments TI Designs.

    Best Regards,

  • An easy fix would be on the web page ( www.ti.com/.../PMP40285 ), allow saving the high resolution image of the PCB rather than medium res When a user click on the image of the PCB to view it, fix the HTML to allow save of the higher resolution image. Currently a right click allows saving the medium resolution image which becomes fuzzy when it is opened as a JPEG and is zoomed. Thanks.
  • Thomas, thanks for the feedback and the suggestion. I will get this to our Web Operations team such that we can take it into consideration within our platform. Best Regards, J. Fullilove
